Your first step should always be to Contact A Broker.
No, we weren't paid to say that!  Whether you are selling just the license or the license and real estate, you should start by contacting a broker.  Brokers who are experienced at handling licensed-business sales will know the proper method of valuing and marketing your property.  The value of a license may fluctuate quickly depending on numerous conditions, and a broker is adept at knowing and working with such conditions.

As the seller, you should also always consider representation by an attorney.

What's the Value of Your License?
The value of a liquor license is much like the value of any house or business - it depends greatly on what you are selling, where you selling it, and when the sale is occurring.  While licenses can sell for $50,000 or more, there are many factors to consider, such as:
  1. Is it a Class C, a Tavern, an SDD, or ?
  2. Is it a license, or a licensed business?
  3. Where is the license located?
  4. Is the license transferrable to a new location?  
  5. Are quota licenses available?
  6. What are recent selling prices for similar licenses?
